About Us

Information with heart

From the Heart Vet is an independent animal-care information website. We help people understand the animals they share their lives with — from dogs and cats to chickens, horses, frogs, fish and the wildlife in their gardens.

At a glance

  • Independent, educational animal-care information
  • Organised by species across 12 animal groups
  • Not a veterinary clinic — we do not diagnose or treat
  • Clear standards for sources, corrections and advertising

Our Purpose

Good care starts with understanding. Many animals have needs that are very different from ours — and from each other. A rabbit, a tortoise and a goldfish cannot be cared for in the same way. Our purpose is to make species-specific care easier to understand, so that more animals live comfortable, well-matched lives.

We write for curious, caring people: first-time owners researching before they commit, experienced keepers looking for a clear refresher, and anyone who wants to share their space kindly with wild animals.

What We Cover

Our library is organised into animal hubs. Each hub introduces the essentials — housing, feeding, enrichment, routines and responsible ownership — with detailed articles added as the library grows.

How We Create Content

  1. ResearchWe start with authoritative sources — veterinary organisations, universities, government animal-welfare bodies and peer-reviewed research.
  2. Write clearlyWe explain what applies to which species, separate general information from individual veterinary advice and avoid unnecessary jargon.
  3. CheckKey claims are checked against their sources before publishing, and limits or uncertainty are stated plainly.
  4. UpdateWe revisit articles when guidance changes or readers report a problem, and show a revised date when a meaningful update is made.

Who We Are

From the Heart Vet is published by an independent editorial team. Articles are credited to the person or team responsible for them and show their publication or revision date.

About veterinary review

Our name reflects the care and compassion we bring to the subject. It does not mean every article is written or reviewed by a veterinarian. When an article has been reviewed by a qualified professional, the reviewer is named on that article along with their relevant credentials.

Our Values

  • Animal welfare first. We favour guidance that supports an animal’s physical and behavioural needs.
  • Honesty about limits. We say clearly when something depends on the individual animal, the species or local rules.
  • Independence. Advertising and commercial relationships never decide what we recommend.
  • Respect for veterinary care. We encourage readers to work with qualified veterinarians, not to replace them.

Independence & Funding

The website is supported by display advertising. Advertisers do not commission, review or approve our editorial content. See our advertising disclosure for details.
